Rupiah Tumbles 8.4% on Concern Government Won't Push Reform
The Indonesian rupiah plunged for a fourth day -- falling 8.4 percent -- as government attempts to push through the International Monetary Fund's austerity measures failed to win confidence. President Suharto's announcement that he'll run for another five-year term also did nothing to stem the decline in the currency. ''The IMF's measures are unpopular ones, and they are coming at a time when the presidential election is just around the corner,'' said Christopher Ng, an economist at OCBC Investment Research. ''There's skepticism Indonesia has the political will to push through those reforms.'' The rupiah fell to 10,600 to the dollar, edging closer to its all-time low on Jan. 9 of 11,200. The currency has fallen 49 percent this year, after plunging 56 percent last year, making it the world's worst- performing currency. "

Maybe 6-6.5 ?

Keeping tabs on IIT (Indosat) as well - Has a much better web presence, bit lower beta, seems to lag major TLK moves by an hour or so as an ADR.

Best of trades !
