When you are reduced to arguing semantics, you have lost.

I think where i-node is trying to go with this is equating Trump with the guy who self-aggrandizes and exaggerates pretty much everything he says. You know it, he knows it, and everything is fine. He is harmless as long as you know. Unless that guy has authority over you, that is. And that is an important distinction that renders Trump distinctly non-harmless.

We saw something similar with Dubya. When he conflated 9/11 and Iraq, it got chalked up by many as he just got bad intel and had nothing to do with wanting a war for whatever reason. Or a whole host of things. He had a coat of teflon until Katrina. Because he was a guy you wanted to have a beer with.

My attitude was different. He was our governor. My impression of him was the frat brother who screwed your girlfriend when she was drunk and boasted about it to the rest of your frat brothers about how he did you a favor because she had to have been a slut...

Grinning the whole time.
