A post To All;

Many of you may have received the latest "alert" from Stratford Systems. The following is an excerpt:
One cannot underestimate Asian bitterness at the United States. A strong conspiracy theory is being generated, in which the origins of the economic crisis are not to be found in Asian mismanagement of their economies, but in an American conspiracy to unfairly force open Asian markets to American goods. Needed reforms are being perceived as an American maneuver to gain advantage. This sentiment is powerfully seductive. It explains the crisis while absolving the Asian elite. It justifies the pain by blaming it on the United States>>

I believe this is a credible forecast. Mahatir and his ilk may indeed carry off the argument and once again the U.S. will be the bogeyman. I am all the more concerned because no doubt this would lend impetus to those in congress who want to shirk our interest and remain behind some wall of isolationism, claiming a moral victory as we watch other nations struggle. Nothing could be further from the interest of the American people. Whether we like it or not we have a global economy and those that argue we do not need it play the worse sort of folly. Question: As investors do we want congress to take an intiative that would lead to a hands off policy vis-a-vis Asia? I would welcome hearing any opinions.
Best,
Stitch
