Valueman- with you 100% on Comsat, for the regulatory reasons you mention, as well as other political considerations. The privatization of the whole mess is a 21st century event. On the question of future acquisitions, I'd bet that he's looking quite carefully at Embratel, the Brazilian satellite company which could be privatized soon. That would fit quite nicely with Orion 2, and SatMex, IMO. Though, with the asian crisis, there might be some tempting morsels available there too.
Cheers,

Brazil's state-owned satellite communications company, Embratel, plans
to launch its fifth satellite - a "B3" model worth US$150mn - from the
Arianespace base in French Guyana January 30.

Over the last three years, Brazil's Communications Ministry has studied
the possibility of privatizing Embratel, a subsidiary of state
telecommunications giant Telebras. Daimler-Benz Aerospace is among
several companies to have expressed interest in entering Brazil's
satellite industry.
