I believe I saw someone in the business media state that OPEC oil touched 14.17 one time last week before closing around 16.

The Alan Abelson column I read in Barrons said last year the IEA's estimate for world wide oil supply was 45.6 million barrels a day. After 11 months and 6 different corrections, that number became 44.1, at drop of 1.5 million barrels a day. You gotta believe somebody when they use 3 significant figures. ;-)

I believe OPEC produces something like 25 million to 28 million barrels a day.

What the world is experiencing right now is a temporary condition. I have no idea how long it will take for Southeast Asia to recover and how that schdule will compare to the time it will take for these major new fields to begin producing.

Some states like Florida and California don't want offshore fields to ever be developed. Other regions such as Central Asia have other political difficulties in developing infrastructure to move the crude to markets.

Mike, instead of Pau, wouldn't you prefer to lunch in Central Asia? HA!
