Democrats’ Impeachment Caucus Down to Just 2 Members

Only two House Democrats, Reps. Rashida Tlaib and Al Green, supported an impeachment resolution against President Trump on Wednesday.

It appears that support for impeaching President Trump among House Democrats has seen a significant decline this week. Following the release of a summary of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report from his two-year investigation into collusion, just two members signed an impeachment resolution that was presented to the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday.

Last week, Mueller concluded his investigation last week and submitted his report to U.S. Attorney General William Barr on Friday. According to a summary released by Barr, Mueller concluded that there was no evidence of collusion.

But that did not stop Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and Al Green (D-TX) from continuing their push for Trump to be impeached, according to CNN.

“Rep. Rashida Tlaib tells me and @SunlenSerfaty that she submitted her impeachment resolution to Judiciary today w/ only one other member’s name of support—Rep. Al Green,” CNN’s Ashley Killough tweeted on Thursday.

This is a significant drop in support for impeachment, as nearly 60 House Democrats voted in favor of impeaching Trump when the House voted on a resolution proposed by Green in 2017.
