The once small 'noodle company' certainly needs to restructure to get back to a few core industries. Agree about the comment that the choebel are stiffling small business development in Korea and elsewhere when/where they simply 'buy' the market.

The future of lucrative CE will be based on R&D/manufacturing of chips and displays. That's two areas where LG needs to continue to allocate its won. Chips and displays production account for about 85% of all TV manufacturing profit, according to one source at Zenith.

Noted in a press release by VLSI today: "According to the estimates now current from Dataquest, the market for chips like the VLSI chip set will increase from 1.5 million in 1998 to more than 30 million homes around the world by 2001, counting terrestrial, cable and satellite signals."
