Scrapps: I too think that a buyout is very likely, may not be immediate but towards the late 2H 98. I would add LU and CPQ to your list. CPQ can always buy the silicone from a chip comapny like IDTI or PMCS. CPQ's Lutz is in charge of making CPQ a big force in remote networking. They bought a small access networking company earlier. LU/ROK are also good candidates as they are already the modem chip makers and would like to secure their markets. ADI of course is already partnering with AWRE. Too many choices, too little time. AWRE does need a big brother for it to effectively muscle the standards. MSFT is a software company and INTC may see anti-trust issues.
