Ralph Nader lost his grandniece in the Ethiopian Airlines crash — now he's taking on Boeing

.........I wonder how much pilot competence influenced the outcome..........these are not US carriers.
I just saw one of those Airline Disaster documentaries regarding a crash in Brazil........ the pilot punches in 270 degrees for an autopilot setting instead of 27 degrees...........apparently confused by a software change which added the ability to key in a fraction of a degree. The co-pilot just rubber stamps the same error. So the plane takes off at dusk and is suppose to be heading just a bit east of due North. Instead it heads due west. The plane heads directly into the setting sun and several passengers tell the flight attendants they think they are going in the wrong direction .....to no avail....................the pilot/copilot then turn on the radio to listen to the Brazil/Chile soccer game...........about two hours later after several more fuckups, the plane goes down in the middle of the Matto Grosso rainforest while following the wrong (Xingu) river about 1000 miles off course...............just incredible.
