<Why would I want to buy a 56K modem from COMS> Because 56K modems are relatively cheap and it's working all over the world right now. xDSL technology is much faster but it's also much more expensive. It has to be supported by your local Telco and the majority of telcos are not supporting them right now. This Intel/Cpq/msft deal if they can arrive at a standard, should be good for everybody - after some thoughts. Right now we have standards for 56K(coming Feb) and Cable Modems - standards are going to promote sales for everybody. Mang
