It was bound to happen:

BALA CYNWYD, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 20, 1998--Notice is hereby given that a class action lawsuit was filed Tuesday in
the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire on behalf of all persons who purchased the common stock of
Cabletron Systems Inc. (''Cabletron'' or the ''Company'') in the open market from July 15, 1997 through Dec. 2, 1997, inclusive (the
''Class Period'').

The complaint charges Cabletron (NYSE: CS - news) and certain of its officers and directors of issuing false and misleading press
releases, statements, and reports which failed to disclose that the Company was rapidly losing market share due to production
problems with the Company's Smartswitch products.

In addition, the complaint alleges that Cabletron misrepresented prospects for the Company's international sales by failing to disclose
existing downward sales trends in Latin America and Asia.

Plaintiff seeks to recover damages on behalf of class members and is represented by the law firms of Schiffrin Craig & Barroway,
LLP and Cook & Molan, P.A., who have significant experience and expertise prosecuting class actions on behalf of investors and
