A candidate for President and their campaign has every right to cooperate with any foreign government they see fit, regardless of whether that country is seen as hostile. This is very choice hypocrisy given the same politicians and pundits were up in arms about Obama and Hillary being to accommodating to Putin and Russia, apparently it is only wrong when a Democrat does it. The warning is irrelevant to them, even though it was public knowledge at the time.
