Agnostics never have the certainty of their god(s) behind them... no forced conversions or hangings for having doubts. It is the nature of reality to not know for sure ... none of us do and those that claim "ancient wisdom" need more than internal dialogs and rapture to get any "cred".

We may be hardwired to believe in god.

Some interesting theories here. It may have been a survival advantage to be able to form groups that work together while believing in the same thing.
