I see no evidence that Borland plans to abandon the cheap compilers. In the past, Borland developed $49 compilers. Now, the entery level tools are just stripped down versions of the big ticket tools. While a $99 sale might be break-even (if that), every registered $99 compiler user is a lead for additional purchases. Every student that uses Borland tools will enter into the corporate world favoring them (as a good number of us on this thread).

When they complete the roll-out of their tool suites, C++B, Delphi, and JBuilder will all scale from a $99 compiler all the way to a $40K enterprise suite (Delphi already does).
