Isn't the office located in the 'Gastown' area, this area is experiencing a mini-boom on its own as its being pegged as the next area to be re-developed, having been there a week or so ago, I noticed that there is lots of trendy cafes and shops moving in, in Vancouver, anything within 20 mins from downtown is very expensive even if it looks like some sort of downtrodden slum.
Companies like Burcon and Oxford are buying up everything in their path to make Gastown the 'Times Square' or 'Hollywood Blvd.' of Vancouver. Regardless, I guess if you take it from a employees point of view, it is more a lifestyle then financial thing.
Not being 'artsy' myself, I totally overlooked that point of view.
Good comment, D.E.
Canadian Business magazine described the offices as looking more like 'a leasing company or insurance offices' rather than a creative high-tech company.
Judging by the look of the directors, I would tend to think of them as hanging out at the local arcade and not sipping latte in some cafe.
Anyways, it would be more economical to lease a whole floor of a waterfront warehouse than to lease that office space they're now in.
Outside of Calgary, Vancouver real estate will continue to boom and increase in sq. foot costs until int.rates rise. more than any other Canadian city.
Especially considering a lot of asian $ have flowed into C$ hard assets to avoid further deterioration in their currencies and their city of choice in Canada is by far Vancouver. Do you know the length of their lease terms?
