"Yes I do think it is a losing issue"
So do I. A reasonable global warming bill, OTH, is a winning issue. Speaking of which, I just found out I have access to a lobbyist in Sacramento, thru the Grange. If I can get the state Grange to pass a resolution, there's a possibility we can both submit a bill to the lege to get rid of FF-vehicles, and also get the National Grange to pass a similar resolution.. This is a first draft:
Whereas it has been known since 1896 that increasing the concentration of various carbon-containing molecules in the atmosphere will increase the temperature of Earth,
and whereas humans are extracting and burning fossil carbon, increasing atmospheric concentrations, and therefore global temperatures are increasing and whereas California is a global leader in the transition to a carbon-free society,
and whereas SB 100, signed into law by Governor Jerry Brown on 9/10/18 requires carbon-free electricity by 2045,
and whereas 41% of our Greenhouse emissions are produced by the transportation sector arb.ca.gov
Be it resolved that the State of California ban the sale or manufacture of new fossil-fuel motor vehicles by 2043, and ban the extraction, refining, and sale of liquid fossil fuels after 2050. |
