For one thing, you can't really expand all that fast with NAND or DRAM. It takes a lot of time build a fab and get the equipment set up. And especially now, it is hard to make 3D NAND, and especially hard to move to more layers.

I think the above comments explain why the 2016-2018 upswing was so positive. They couldn't figure out 3D NAND quickly, so demand far outstripped production increases.

But I think they are all over that hump now. Now that they've got some fabs doing 96 layer 3D NAND (or wherever they are at in their own leading edge production) it's just a matter of rolling out that tested and successful technological leap on their other fabs.

Yeah, but who knows?
