Now that we can see that Trump did not obstruct this investigation in any way, it's worth considering the effects. Regardless of whether Trump's decision to cooperate fully with the probe was strategically correct, it does long-term damage to our Republic. I'm not at all criticizing Trump for the decision. He was fighting for his political life.

Our Republic was designed to have balance between the 3 branches of government. In allowing the DOJ to investigate their superiors at the White House, this further weakens the weakest branch of our government (the Executive) and strengthens the completely unconstitutional 4th branch (the Deep State).

Imagine if lower courts were allowed to exert leverage over the Supreme Court by opening up bogus investigations into the Supreme Court Justices. That's exactly what is happening here in the Executive Branch. It has been going on for over half a century and it probably will keep getting worse.
