DALLAS, Jan. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- DSC Communications Corporation (NASDAQ:DIGI) announced today that it has signed a two-year agreement with Waller Creek Communications (WCC), a Texas-based competitive local telephone exchange carrier, for delivery of DSC's Litespan-2000 access systems. DSC's equipment will be installed to support a mix of residential and business customers in WCC's Texas network. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Litespan-2000 is the flagship product in DSC's growing line of access systems. Litespan- 2000 is widely deployed throughout North America, with more than 8 million lines currently installed by a variety of carriers, including each of the five regional holding companies. "Waller Creek will offer the kind of advanced products and services that address the needs of the consumer." Litespan's modular design makes it a flexible, cost-effective choice for carriers who want to deliver leading-edge network offerings. The system can support a wide range of services, from basic voice service (POTS) and ISDN to more advanced requirements such as broadband applications and ADSL or VDSL technologies. Throughout these migrations in network performance, the embedded Litespan system is available to serve at ever increasing bandwidth and capacity levels. "The telecommunications market is becoming increasingly competitive," said Mike Pisterzi, vice president, DSC's North American Sales and Global Customer Services. "DSC is ideally positioned to address the market's rapidly changing needs. By emphasizing scalable designs throughout our development programs, we ensure that our products fit all ranges of networks, both newly developed networks and those that are well established. We are pleased to provide our access technology for Waller Creek Communications' growing network." "DSC has impressed me with their ability to listen to our competitive needs and to quickly develop effective solutions with our engineers," said Feldman. "The fact that we have been able to rapidly and successfully deploy our 'Integrated T' product is in large part due to DSC's support." Waller Creek's Integrated T combines high-speed dedicated Internet access with local and long-distance telephone service in a single integrated connection. Waller Creek has value-added agency agreements with Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and key system providers to sell the service.
