January 20, 1998 (TOKYO) -- Oracle Corp. Japan said it will strengthen the support system for
corporate users, by increasing the number of its personnel in Japan capable of debugging Oracle's
software from four to six by May.

The support staff were assigned in October 1997. The support team comprises two Oracle staff
members and two from a major Japanese computer maker.

According to Oracle Japan, an increasing number of customers are entering the company's
membership support system, or its direct support program, which started in July 1997.

Already, three companies have became "Gold" members, and about five companies are discussing
the program with Oracle.

A Gold member, which purchases the most benefits, is entitled to a dedicated engineer assigned to
the company in addition to 24- hour, 365-day-a-year support service. The annual price is at least
20 million yen (US$155,000).
