There will always be that difficulty in difference in perspective... which is only rarely a real cause of intolerance. What's happening today is a deliberate effort being made to use media to foster division... and "fake news" is purposeful in doing that... because of leadership exercised over the media that posture as its goal "outcomes" and not "the truth". Brainwashing the public... all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time... engenders a lot of future potential in cognitive dissonance which will be realized as the lies come home to roost, and reality reasserts itself. Some won't handle it well. When you are told by "a trusted name" that someone "on the other side" is not just going to steal from you, or cheated in politics while wrongly taking power, that they will soon impose violence on you, and put you in a FEMA camp... but that they are "Nazi's" or otherwise truly represent everything evil in the world ? That will tend to make most people's Thanksgiving dinner a bit more tense than usual.
