GOOD NEWS! INFINERA HAS A NEWSLETTER, AND THEY SAY 600G IS AVAILABLE FOR ORDER NOW. GLAD THEY LET US KNOW... I WAS BEGINNING TO WORRY ABOUT A DELAY.

2019: A New Network. 600G Wavelengths Now. New 800G Optical Engine Coming Soon. And Lots of Opportunity.

We are off to a fast start in 2019 with the launch of The Infinite Network, an end-to-end architecture vision that extends our Instant Bandwidth business model to the edge of your network and gives you the bandwidth you need everywhere, always and instantly; the availability of our record-setting 600 gigabits per second (600G) solution that provides 50 percent more capacity than competitive offerings; the announcement of 800G wavelengths using our industry-leading, vertically integrated Infinite Capacity Engine (ICE) technology; a new Disaggregated Cell Site Gateways (DCSG) solution that is Telecom Infra Project (TIP) DCSG-compliant to efficiently and cost-effectively backhaul cell site traffic; and multiple customer milestones including the completion of the industry’s first autonomous intelligent transponder (AIT) live network field trial with Telia Carrier.

But what does it all mean for you, other than having to learn a bunch of new acronyms?

Infinera’s mission has always been about helping you build the right network so you can efficiently deploy the services that your customers are demanding, now and in the future. All of our new advancements in technology give you more flexibility, a massively improved cost structure and new ways to think about growing your network so it’s not only manageable but automated and more cost-efficient than ever.

In the coming months, you’ll hear even more from us about our new vision and the ways we are enabling operators across the globe to scale profitable services and lower operating costs. As always, we wish you the very best and are here to help you achieve your goals.

Sincerely,

Tom Fallon

600G Available Now and 800G Coming Soon

The demand for bandwidth will seemingly never end as consumers and businesses push more data into the cloud and across the globe. Infinera’s Infinite Capacity Engine and other innovative solutions continue to push the boundaries of optical capacity, efficiency and performance.

Record-setting 600G over 250 Km

Infinera’s Groove G30 muxponder, which is available now for order, recently demonstrated 600G per wavelength transmission over 250 kilometers (km) on the backbone network of a leading European service provider. Operators can now cost-efficiently scale beyond 200G and 400G wavelengths for data center interconnect and metro networking applications while dramatically improving density, lowering power and simplifying operations and service activation.

The Next Optical Frontier - 800G Wavelengths

Infinera recently announced and demonstrated its sixth-generation Infinite Capacity Engine, ICE6, a new benchmark in high-capacity optical transmission with dual-channel 800G per wave and leading optical performance. ICE6 builds on the success of Infinera’s ICE4 and Instant Bandwidth with a 1.6 terabits per second (1.6T) optical engine, providing a seamless path for network operators to meet the relentless growth of bandwidth and increasingly dynamic, unpredictable traffic flows.

Telia Carrier and Infinera Demonstrate Industry-first Autonomous Intelligent Transponder in Live Network Field Trial

In a live field trial, Infinera recently demonstrated the ability of fiber optic transmission systems to autonomously adapt to changing network conditions in real time to support optimal service quality and performance while simplifying operations. The proof of concept field trial was performed using AIT prototype technology, developed by Infinera as part of its ongoing research and development initiatives, on a live 1,500-km fiber route in Telia Carrier’s backbone network connecting Munich, Zurich, Strasbourg and Frankfurt.

Webinar Replay: At the Edge of Next-gen Revenue Creation: 5G, MEC and IoT Virtualized Service Delivery
Presented by IHS Markit Technology Group, Infinera and AT&T and hosted by Michael Howard, Executive Research Director, Carrier Networks for IHS Markit, this webinar explores how operators are designing edge networks to deliver new revenue-generating services.

The edge is the natural target for new revenue creation, from end-user services and applications that are based on edge-located virtualized elements of mobile infrastructure to powerful compute capabilities for multi-access edge compute (MEC). Service providers must make critical architectural decisions to optimize network hardware/software infrastructure for the high-capacity, low-latency traffic demands of 5G, the Internet of Things (IoT) and an array of edge-based applications. In addition, they face the challenge of applying innovative technologies like network slicing, software-defined networking (SDN)/network functions virtualization (NFV) and micro data centers to achieve bottom-line results. This webinar explores go-to-market service creation and deployment strategies in an open edge ecosystem of network and compute, including virtualized 4G/5G.

Download The Ultimate Guide to Nyquist Subcarriers to understand how this technology works, the use cases and the advantages to your network designs and implementations.

Fiber optic systems have rapidly evolved from a conventional optical carrier where a single laser produces a single signal, to coherent implementations with transmitter-based processing. While many equipment providers are working to shape their signals for greater performance and spectral efficiency, Infinera has pioneered Nyquist shaping that digitally divides the optical carrier into multiple subcarriers to dramatically enhance optical performance.
