I have heard the same claim that construction companies are becoming more technical in the late 80’s. It is correct that some companies like Fluor and CBI had technical expertise where competitors are few. However, as long as these companies can’t generate meaningful recurring and high margin revenue streams,I remain skeptical. CBI certainly didn’t work out... JEC has higher margin business than most of its peers when ai checked them a while ago.
