It takes a REAL MORON to read "inventories SKYROCKET while personal spending slows" and not see that it spells DOOM for the CONMAN POS tRump SHITHOLE US economy...

"Economists quickly cautioned that several factors contributed to the headline growth in the first quarter that may not be repeatable.

The first-quarter growth reflected higher state and local government spending, building business inventories and higher exports, partly offset by a slowdown in personal spending, business investment and federal government spending.

Several of the positive contributors are likely to disappear in future quarters; businesses, for example, are likely to work down elevated inventories, said Steve Blitz, chief U.S. economist for the forecasting firm TS Lombard.

"Beyond the headline number, when I look at this report, I see nothing that tells me that growth momentum is going up," Blitz said. "It sets us up for a weak second quarter."

U.S. economic growth accelerated in the first quarter, but the burst in growth was driven by trade and the largest accumulation of unsold goods since 2015, temporary factors that are likely to reverse in the coming quarters.
