Xfinity is simply branding used by Comcast. If you subscribe to Comcast's internet and/or cell service you can log on to the internet or make calls from your portable device whenever you are in range of one of their 'hotspots'. We live in a close in surburb of Chicago, so they seem to be all over the place and we have little or no problem logging on to them instead of using chargeable cell data.
My guess is that they will simply upgrade this to 5G and make it better. 5G needs a high tower density Nd whoever can provide this wins. FWIW, Spectrum (Charter) used to have the same thing when I lived in Long Island. The cable cos seem to have the edge there.

Comcast has been great at generating shareholder value and have compounded at mid double digit rates for a long time. They bought the struggling NBC from GE and a quirked it for I think 4x EBITDA (in a two step buyout).I think they will figure out something with their new Sky acquisition too and convert it into streaming service with more self produced content, something they have already started. Since the distribution cost with streaming is almost zero and the user experience is better (you can watch what you want any time) I think the profit margins will increase.
