The point is that the food quality reputation regarding China is low and not just among foreigners. People in China were very keen to feed infants with Made in New Zealand food .

But also I have eaten caviar and other roe and my favourite by far is smoked wild schnapper roe.

Regarding quality, I'm long in the tooth and remember when Made in Japan meant cheap junk. But over not many decades they made a virtue out of William Deming ideology for quality to the extent that I think Japanese beat Swiss or close enough.

China has a long way to go until Made in China rates with Japan and Switzerland.

They have passed Lada cars though I found my "banana Lada" suitable for my needs in Antwerp and have bought many non food items from China and been impressed by the price/quality balance.
