More insight on the Ethiopia Air pilot who was flying a commercial jet after only 200 hours experience.

Lufthansa requires their pilots to attend two four hour simulator sessions just to be qualified to land and take-off at the high altitude 9,500 feet airport of Quito Ecuador - only 500 feet below the landing ceiling for the MD-11.

This extra 8 hours of airport specific training is required even for these cargo pilots.
