My first email address was on Compuserve. They gave you a number tied to your name, which stuck with you on their forums, so I guess I just transferred that to SI. Either that or I just confused the username as being the private name. As an alias it sounds stupidly pretentious, but as I'm pretentiously stupid, I guess it doesn't matter. :) Speaking of which...

You know all those voice activated services like Siri, Cortana, Amazon Echo, Google Home, etc? They listen to your conversations all the time. One of my son's friends is working at a place that makes the equivalent for cars. His job is to listen to people talking in their cars, albeit anonymously. You know all those home security systems where you can monitor inside and outside your house on your phone? Those employees can spy on you too. As most people don't reset their factory-set passwords, there's an entire channel on the net where "everyone" can now spy on you.

So if someone were to have eavesdropped on me in my own bedroom getting a Bob Kraft style happy ending, and tried to extort me, I'd probably reply instead by demanding they use my middle initial to differentiate me from all the others using my name. That's just my own worldview. But, relax, I have no plans to upload anything like that... here. :)
