Probably at least two reasons for the lack of chatter here about earnings.
One, as you mentioned, expectations are low heading into earnings. Many are in a "wait and see" mode due to questions about iPhone results, since Apple News has just started and won't move the needle, and the new Apple TV streaming services still months away.
Two, traffic on this thread has been slowly decreasing for years. It used to be the most popular thread by post count in the Stocktalk Techstocks section of SI, continuously. Once there were hundreds of posts per week here, and I recall several years ago it hit over 1,000 once after earnings. Now it is a small fraction of that, usually less than 40 in any given week. It's even below the formerly moribund Apple Unmoderated thread that has about 5 people who post there.
I think many people have moved on from SI, simply don't post as frequently, or cashed out their AAPL and no longer have much interest in the company. I'm sure there are other reasons, too. It was probably inevitable.
According to Dmitry, SI is doing just fine, so it isn't due to lack of new SI users or lower traffic. |
