Curious if anyone understand this topic.......

If I look at the ChinaFlashMarket web page, it has lots of current prices for various flash related items.

256GB TLC chips are $1.98 each

256GB MLC chips are $5.50 each

Given those prices, who in the world would buy an MLC chip?

WDC said something about their current planar production being on favorable lucrative terms, so all I can think of is that some maker of something (autos??) has committed to long term purchase contracts (at high prices) for already qualifed MLC chips, but still. At that price differential it's hard to believe a maker wouldn't move as quickly as possible to qualify a TLC chip rather than a legacy MLP chip.
