<<Bill, do you honestly believe there is a difference between the shoes
people of any race prefer?>>

Yes. Different races and ethnic groups, collectively, prefer and buy differing quantities of different consumer products. That's a well-supported fact. If you doubt it, compare the African American representation in skateboarding and snowboarding (and the resulting equipment purchases) to the representation of this group in the population at large.

When marketing various products, particularly pop-culture-driven ones like shoes, it is smart to consider the various demographics (yes, that includes ethnicity, yes, it includes race, and no, it's not racist to say so). My comment about VANS was that they appear to be overlooking a large part of the shoe-buying public in their marketing efforts. Diversifying to appeal to a wider group isn't racist, it's inclusive, smart marketing. And it sells product. Look at NIKE.

Good luck with your VANS position.

Bill
