From their website, Sustane has a two-part story. They say they can separate out garbage better than anyone else and also say they convert garbage into fuel. I know they can't profitably convert garbage into fuel and they're very light on any information saying how well their separation technology works...so I'm going to guess that their separation technology is near worthless as well.

Searching online, it looks like in 2016 they announced a $16M facility which was supposed to be operational in late 2017. cbc.ca

Another site says the same thing (late 2017) and says fuel output will be in early 2018, a verbiage change which slightly shifts the time line. It also says that PK Clean is providing the technology and someone else's worthless technology probably won't fare any better when used at Sustane. biomassmagazine.com

Sustane's website then makes another timeline distinction by saying that they've been undergoing testing since 2017 and will be in "full operation" in Q1 2019...which is now past with no splashy update saying they're cranking out fuel. The readers are apparently supposed to call themselves stupid for not realizing that "operation" statement made in 2016 wasn't the same as "full operation." Sustane is using subtle changes in wording to explain away timelines. Normally these companies are either clueless or dishonest but based on the duplicitous wording, I'm going to say they're more likely dishonest than merely bungling.

Delays will certainly continue and Sustane's next update will certainly provide updated wording to make the delays seem like they're not delays at all.

That's my twenty three minute investigation and write up on Sustane. I would say it's just another cash incinerating project.
