James Crowe has just announced formation of a new company, Level 3, that intends to build a nation (or perhaps world) wide fiber optic network completely routed, that will carry voice and data transmission without telco switches. It sounds like a pipe dream, but this guy is nothing if not a visionary. (I know the type, I live in Atlanta and have to listen to Ted Turner all the time.) usatoday.com I hope you appreciate this. It took me 15 minutes to run down the article, which I read in print today at lunch. This has to be the most underreported story of the week.
