No, my wife and I rented a section of the farmhouse while I was going to graduate school at Northern Illinois University about 20 miles North.... but being in corn country I learned some things about farming... I had odd jobs to help pay our bills, I was a part time cook at the local breakfast shop and I also on occasion drove a small herd of cattle west to Clinton, Iowa just over the Mississippi to deliver to the slaughterhouse there, just like the old cowboys driving cattle, except it was a cattle truck, a big one, I rode shotgun... the town was so small, the driver of the cattle truck was also the chief of police there, I mean, talk about a small place... he also ran the only gas station in town... we were friends so he always asked me if I wanted to ride along when he drove the cattle, I always did, the 6 hour ride was great, the scenery was beautiful, and the conversations were always very good...
