Macromedia bought an object oriented software company that developed software that directly competed with Director, and immediately suppressed it. Can't remember the name of the company but their software was well ahead of Director. Adobe bought Macromedia partially to suppress Freehand which competed with illustrator. Illegal monopoly tactics are defacto legal now IMO. ===== Companies also buy other companies for their talent... keep the creme of the crop and layoff the rest.
