malcolm, I agree with your post 100% but I haven't been able to add the tax issue into the formula. I have formulated my own strategy similar to the one you propose but i am not sure if you would be ahead if you are paying taxes along the way (unless you do it enough times a year & are very successfull). What is your philosophy/how do you address the tax issue. i.e. do you put the estimated taxes aside in a different account or let them ride & worry about the taxes when they are due. If you let them ride, what if the stock goes down & you are forced to sell at an inopportune time to cover the tax bill?
