Your understanding of the ACA is completely wrong on all points. Stop paying the huge angry Republican premium-surcharge.
People with poverty level incomes because they don't work, or work and earn very little cannot be covered by ACA insurance. These people are covered by Medicaid which is not paid by the premiums paid by others, but by the US taxpayer through the general fund.
Only Single people who earn at least $18,000 annually or couples earning more than $36,000 are eligible for health insurance through the ACA insurance exchanges. The hurdle income is even higher if they have children.
Premium subsidies are available to:
A family of 4 earning less than $100,400 annually; A childless married couple earning less than $65,840 annually; A single person earning less than $48,560.
These premium subsidies are not paid by the premiums paid by others, but by the US taxpayer through the general fund which Trump turned to to fund his tax cuts. .
The ACA Silver total annual out-of-pocket is 2/3 less than your employee's deductible and the monthly premium should be about the same or less. If they qualify for a premium subsidy their premium bill will be much, much less. With a $2,600 annual maximum out-of-pocket, $650 of which is the Deductible and $1,950 is the maximum of the up to 30% co-pays.
I suspect most of your employees would receive a much better deal being insured through an ACA insurance exchange and your politically-motivated choice not to use ACA screws bot you and your employees.
Businesses in California, like my parent's business are not getting reamed the way you are. They pay less and get far more coverage. This is either due to your bad choices or the malicious choices of your state legislator. If I were you, I'd look into this today to try to find the problem. |
