Hey Bill,
I was once doing some work for Lac. We got into the question of gold that we found ignored the Neutron Activation assay. The question was a puzzel since the labs selling that assay service kept saying it was a fool proof method. I called R.A. Deal. He and two others headed up that type of research at Oak Ridge Nuclear Facilities back in the 60s. He was retired in Idaho. I told him what I had heard and that I didn't believe the statement about the infallibility of Neutron Activation. He said go right over to that lab, grap your samples and run out the door with them, they obviously don't know what they are doing. You are correct Bill, he said as you said; If you go through the trouble to identify the interferences, and remove them, the method is ok. He mentioned boron as just one example. mike
