Such a person might be greatly confused by reading this thread. I don't believe anyone expects perfect agreement, but they do expect some semblance of cohesion since we all share the same core belief - the Lordship of Jesus. First (or early) impressions are very important and, in the case of this subject matter, could determine whether the non-Christian pursues the matter further or drops it right then and there. Christians have a heavy responsibility when they take public stands because what they say and how they say it could make an impression, whether good or bad, on someone who has not yet made a committment to the Lord.
