Thanks, I'm reading reviews and checking out other video editing software as well.

There are several free programs available on the Mac besides iMovie, and most of the paid ones have demos available.

My needs aren't heavy duty and most or all of the features in the advanced software I will have no use for. I just want something more intuitive than iMovie 10, but considering how badly Apple has screwed it up, that probably won't be hard to find.
