Lee swore an oath to the UNITED STATES...not to Virginia.....and sorry but the war was all about slavery...anything else was a side show or made up after the fact....but you are right about it being also about money....since the largest monetary asset in the south was slaves....slavery is just one of many atrocities committed by a country that claims some kind of moral high ground over the rest of the world....the USA surely has had great moments....but not enough to wash the many SINS away....LEE was lucky he wasn't hung but only had his home Arlington taken from him and turned into a cemetery
