You don't know what you are talking about. Southerners knew that the institution of slavery was on the way out. It was being changed all over the world by 1860. And in no place was it necessary to fight a war over the issue. Even Lincoln, who was against slavery, said that if the war could be stopped by continuing the institution, he would go along with it.

I'm not going to give you a history lesson., You are too ignorant to teach. I do not have the time. If you are not willing to take John Hope Franklin's word for it, then you are really brainwashed. His work From Slavery to Freedom is considered to be a foundational African American study in American history. His credentials are impeccable. Since he was also an extremely well educated Africa American scholar, it even gives his ideas additional weight. That is why I used it.

Political Science and History were my disciplines and I studied at a very highly regarded University before I went to law school. .

If you are really interested in discovering the truth, then there is a mountain of evidence to support what I have said. Go out there and discover it. If not, then you can continue to live in the dark.
