Back when the MSM - both printed and TV had a monopoly it was more subtle. However, it has been there forever. Read Witness and see the reaction he received from his media "friends" when he outed Algir Hiss.

I also believe had Nixon been a democrat. Whitewater would never have seen the light of day.

Back when BJ Clinton was being impeached, he made a speech where he wagged his finger at the American people and proclaimed "He did not have sex with that woman..." It was inflammatory and the media did not replay it over and over. Had BJ been a republican that would have been on the news every night.

I think you right that it is much more blatant and also amateurish not to mention often factually impoverished. It has moved from the state of "bias" to propaganda.
