Vivus Says NBC Won't Run Ad During Super Bowl For Muse Pdt

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- Vivus Inc. (VVUS) said General Electric Co.'s (GE) NBC declined to run an advertisement for its Muse impotence treatment during the Super Bowl, citing subject matter.
In a press release Tuesday, the company said it will launch a direct-to-consumer advertising campaign in the coming weeks, and will air the television ad on other networks in February.
Vivus develops erectile dysfunction therapeutic treatment systems.
NBC officials weren't immediately available for comment.
An NBC spokeswoman Tuesday said the network's advertisement standards department reviewed both the general concept and the specific content of Vivus Inc.'s impotence ad, and isn't comfortable airing the commercial at this time.
