Jonathan Parker, the former chairman of the Idaho Republican Party, wore a wig and engaged in public sex acts.
Former chairman of the Idaho Republican Party Jonathan Parker has been arrested on a felony first-degree stalking charge, reports Boise State Public Radio.
According to court records, Parker repeatedly put on a wig as a disguise, hid in bushes near his ex-wife’s apartment, and masturbated. Parker’s wife, Kelly Parker, filed for divorce in March.
David Leroy, Parker’s lawyer and former attorney general and congressional candidate, says the entire situation is a “grand misunderstanding.” Leroy claimed that Parker was attending a costume party and attempting to scare a different woman by peering through her windows.
Parker’s bond is set at $80,000 and a no-contact order states that Parker cannot be within 500 feet of his estranged wife.
In February, Parker left his position with the Idaho Republican Party, where he had served as chairman since 2017. He explained his departure in a letter.
“Serving as your Chairman, while maintaining a full-time job and being a fully engaged Father has been harder than I imagined, so much so that I have reluctantly decided that I should no longer continue to serve as Chairman of the Idaho Republican Party so that I can focus on the priorities I place above all others.”
Facing up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000, Parker’s next court date is on June 14. |
