How Many B-21 Raiders Will We Build ?

A reprint of a 2017 article, now known to be wrong in some respects... it isn't up to date... but seems the only thing new is the speculative element in the title...

Originally said to be planned for a build of 100, recently there's been quite a bit of ferment suggesting a range of larger numbers, most between 100 and 300. We've tended to under-build new systems in the last couple of decades. The F-35 seems set to solve that problem on the tactical side. Hopefully, the B-21 will also prove itself well enough when fielded to justify an extended production run...

Not in the article, but the in the news recently... it is being said that, yes, the B-21 will be pilot optional... with many missions possibly being performed that would essentially be duplicating mission profiles performed now by the RQ series Global Hawk type drones... only stealthier... and a lot more expensive.

Hopefully, they'll be able to figure out how to avoid having the Iranians, Chinese, or Russians hack it, and fly it off to be exploited.
