I was a Vietnam era draft dodger like a lot of others...I did four years of college in the 1960s but it was not enough time. Then I got married, then I jumped back into school for some post graduate studies, but the 1-A draft notice arrived and I considered Canada for a day or two, then drove over to Salem, Oregon and enlisted in the Air Force, May 1970. 22.5 years later I retired from 349 Reserve Maintenance Wing at Travis AFB, Fairfield, CA. I held every rank from airmen basic to staff sergeant, and also 2nd Lt to Major. I enjoyed the heck out of working in and around C5 and C141 aircraft over those years. I deployed to every major AF base in the Pacific, except Okinawa, that serviced this large cargo/troop carriers.

I decided to retire at the end of the Bush Sr. term of office because I was unhappy about the prospect of receiving a retirement certificate with the Clinton name on it. November of 1992...my personal protest. It hangs on my memorabilia wall at Tahoe.
