Major New Madrid quake would certainly bring catastrophic damage to nearby cities, towns and rural areas. From Geology.com:

Sure, there's some, though minor to minimal, risk is there, for property even 500 -600 miles away. At that distance, variations in your local geology become very significant in conveying or resisting minor seismic activity . Records for this very ancient hilly & mountainous area show more stable geology than either the eastern U.S. coastal region, or the region from the Ohio River Valley to New Madrid.
In any case? It's a matter of educated guesses as to how soon, even IF, such a large event would occur at all during this GSM. Could happen next year, or many decades in the future. Fact is? Nobody knows when even a sizable New Madrid quake OR a large Yellowstone eruption will occur. I've read the best geologists, especially those who specialize in volcanism and seismology Occasional claims to the contrary? The science hasn't advanced to where it can offer even the decades, let alone a more narrow date range forecast. Now lets look at Yellowstone. And what ho?<g>
