No...............but it sure did open a can of worms for the people running the government. We watched the last episode tonight, and I'd have to agree. The mistakes fostered by the outright lies and incompetence that was rampant in the Soviet system led to Chernobyl and the excruciating death of hundreds of living beings. Due to radiation poisoning the veins eventually collapse to the point where they can't inject morphine to staunch the pain. Some say the disaster at Chernobyl played a large role in facilitating the fall of the Soviet Union. The mini-series made that pretty clear.
