The issue here is the US has for a long time wanted to be perceived as the White Hats (reference to good guys in old time westerns) Mr. Trump is applying his own often cutthroat biz tactics to the situation.. which is the America first/MAGA theme.. That is not a necessarily bad thing.. other countries do it.. The thing the US will lose .. and that is just fine with many is the purported White Hat image... Being a White Hat costs.. and maybe the cost is too high.. That does make you bad.. This is Mr. Trump's way.. It is not wrong.. just a question of how you want to be viewed.. In many ways Mr. Trump is quite forthright... (yes his tweeting is dopey at times...)

Look at it this way... For so long the US had a larger than reasonable slice of the pie.. Then it a got a larger than reasonable slice of the cost..Now the rise of other nations is taking that pie slice differential away.. making it fairer.. old theme for us elmat.. making it more balanced.. From Mr. Trump's perspective.. that is fine as long as costs are also redistributed.. He is ahead of the game on redistributing the cost...

So far on the realpolitik front .. Mr, Trump has essentially had the US stick to its knitting .. so far.. actually a good thing..

My bet is that he wins reelection.. likely more soundly.. Dems have learned NADA. Still not a fan of Trump the man.. but he may not be such a bad prez.. They are separate and distinct.. As with many things in life folks at times need to put aside their irrelevant to the situation biases.. and go with a decent solution...
